Xrio UBM 2.1 Software has been released

Xrio are pleased to announce the release of our new 2.1 software platform for UBM and UBMi appliances, together with UBMv and vBond Virtual Appliances.  After several months in development, this release brings many performance and stability enhancements on top of some exciting new features that continue Xrio's lead in Unified Bandwidth Management appliances.

Obtaining the new software release

The software is available to all customers with a valid System Assurance agreement and with all new purchases of Xrio UBM appliances.

New Features

On top of more than 1000 enhancements to improve performance and stability here are the core features introduced in version 2.1.

  • New Dynamic Bonding Algorithm, adapts to differing network conditions as they happen
  • Telco-grade Command Line Interface (CLI) to configure, monitor and diagnose the UBM appliance
  • Mobile 3G connectivity with the ability to build bonded, load balanced and failover solutions
  • TCP tunnelling to support routing through NAT or private networks
  • Site to site compression increasing bandwidth up to 20 times the bandwidth of combined links
  • Tunnel encryption
  • PPPoE over ADSL support
  • Ability to 'load balance' multiple bonded teams to increase performance of 4 or more bonded links
  • Improved interoperability with Xrio Enterprise Central Management Platform.
  • Improved performance reporting including bidirectional measurements
  • Latest Linux Kernel and Security Enhancements

Considerations

This software release has been field tested by a small number of Xrio Partners and undergone rigorous lab testing procedures.  However, this is a major release with several core changes and thus we strongly recommended testing in a lab or controlled environment before upgrading existing appliances.
