Major developments in the Internet industry are expected in 2008. Due to an increase in demand for higher bandwidth, two of the largest ISPs are to introduce higher Internet speeds to their customers.
Firstly, Virgin Media – the only cable ISP in the UK is to upgrade their infrastructure throughout the UK. The upgrade aims to deliver up to 50Mbps and is expected to be available by the end of the year to homes with cable access. In addition, Virgin Media are also offering a free upgrade to their customers on an “L” tier package to receive up to 10Mbps from their current 4Mbps service.
BT is the other ISP that also has plans to upgrade their UK telecommunications infrastructure. Currently BT offers their customers up to 8Mbps ADSL connections. However, with their forthcoming ADSL2+ customers are expected to receive up to 24Mbps.
With developments for both ADSL and Cable customers, fibre company H20 is also planning to install fibre cheaply through sewers instead of streets to build an infrastructure that is capable of delivering even higher speeds at a lower cost.
The Xrio UBM is compatible with all different types of Internet technology such as ADSL, Cable and fibre, etc. Regardless of the Internet technology implemented within your network, the Xrio UBM delivers a scalable solution that enables you to aggregate ISP connections to multiply your bandwidth and achieve higher Internet speeds with the added benefit of ensuring a more reliable Internet connection.
